I’m very pleased to share the cover for my forthcoming book Teaching for Truth, Goodness, and Beauty: Medieval Voices for the Future of Classical Christian Education, which will be published later this fall by Cascade Books. The central image is “Christ the Geometer,” here depicted as a miniature in a French manuscript ca. 1400. Holding a large compass in his left hand, Christ raises his right hand towards the sky as he plants the stars in the sky on the first day of creation. The intersection of Christian theology and the liberal arts (including the mathematical arts of the medieval quadrivium) is in fact a central idea in this book, so this particular image captures the project well.
